Athletic Club got some good news on Tuesday as Alex Remiro officially returned to training. The young goalkeeper was recently struck in the head during training by a shot from Inaki Williams and was knocked unconscious. He was then rushed to the hospital. A few days later he visited his teammates in training but was under observation until this week.
Naturally, Remiro did not compete in every training drill on Tuesday. He mostly did jogging and running drills as the trainers want to ease him back into action. With the Lions currently on international break he should be fully recovered and available to Ernesto Valverde for 1 April’s match against Osasuna at El Sadar.
Tuesday’s training session marked the first time in quite a while that all first team players were available. However, there was a bit of a scare when Aritz Aduriz left early due to some discomfort. It doesn’t appear to be anything serious, just mainly precautionary.
While Remiro was absent on Monday, Bilbao Athletic keeper Unai Simon had the opportunity to train with the first team. Simon is yet another young talented shot stopper that has graduated from Lezama. Between Kepa Arrizabalaga, Alex Remiro, and Unai Simon the future at keeper is very bright for Athletic Club.
