Bilbao Athletic is always looking for ways to improve and create more developmental competition within the team. Every year new players are promoted and outside talent is brought in. While the summer transfer window is still a few months away, the Cachorros have already made one signing happen.
According to El Desmarque Bizkaia, Bilbao Athletic have signed Gernika Club forward, Íñigo Muñoz, to a two-year contract.
Muñoz is a bit on the small side, but makes up for it with incredible pace and relentless work ethic. He has played mostly as a striker but is capable of featuring anywhere across the front line. His ability with the ball at his feet has always made him dangerous and the hope is that he will bring new creativity and energy to the reserve team.
The 20-year-old will officially join his new team when the current campaign comes to a close. He will certainly have a lot of competition with Gorka Guruzeta for the striker position, but that may not be all. Lezama star Íñigo Vicente is expected to be promoted and there are ongoing reports that Athletic have made an offer to Real Sociedad B striker, Eneko Jauregi, who is out of contract in June. For now, it isn’t know whether Athletic view Muñoz as a pure striker or a winger, but that question should be answered rather quickly next season.
